Twelve guests is the ceiling on most private yachts, since international SOLAS safety rules classify anything larger as a passenger ship. Some vessels can take bigger parties on day trips (up to about 20), though overnight numbers are capped by cabin count. Day-charter pricing starts from a published "from" rate and climbs with the size and class of yacht — small catamarans and speedboats sit at the low end, luxury motor yachts and superyachts at the top.
